If you didn’t know this about me already, I love re-purposing old items and making them new again. This is especially the case when it comes to fashion and clothing. My latest DIY project was inspired by pair of lace shorts I saw at Forever 21 and I just knew I could make them myself for a fraction of the cost. They are the perfect shorts to wear on a breezy summer day. Here is what you’ll need if you want to do it too:
First cut your jeans into the desired length for shorts. I cut mine with the intention of rolling them up after the lace was sewn on.
When it come to projects I am the total opposite of my husband- meaning I use approximate measuring and eyeball everything. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. That being said, I eyeballed approximately how much of the lace I would need for the first leg. Then I cut around the shape of where I would be sewing.
Next I hand stitched each piece of the lace onto each leg on the outside edges of the lace.
^^ Halfway there
I used my exact same patented method of measuring when I added lace to the pockets.
After I finished all the stitch work, I rolled the bottom edges up twice to cover the frayed ends.
How is your summer going?
