The best, worst and everything in between from the drugstore.
Like many women, I use dry shampoo on a regular basis. I typically wash my hair every other day so dry shampoo is something I always have on hand to use on the second day. I naturally have very fine, pin-straight hair. No matter what regular hair care I use in the shower, I usually need a refresher the next day. There are tons of dry shampoo products out there, but I tend to gravitate toward the drugstore brands. Below is a round-up of some dry shampoos I’ve been using over the last few months.
1- Garnier Fructis Volume Extend– This particular product drew me in because of the label. As I just mentioned, I have fine hair so I will try anything that advertises more body and volume. This did the trick as far as refreshing my second day hair, but I didn’t see much improvement in the volume or body.
2- Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion– Suave has done a great job with re-branding their products to reflect a more salon like look. I hadn’t used Suave products in years before I picked this up, and I was pleasantly surprised. Normally with dry shampoo on dark hair, you get a lot of white powdery residue left in the hair. This did really have that effect on me. I really liked this product, and would repurchase it.
3- Dove Hair Therapy Refresh + Care- I really wanted too like this product, but I just couldn’t. It smells really amazing- like a powdery fresh scent. However the product itself didn’t do a great job. When I sprayed it in my hair, I really had to work at rubbing it into my roots to blend in the white powder. It also didn’t add any volume like it advertised. This dry shampoo would probably work great for someone with lighter and/or thicker hair.
4- Batiste For Dark Hair- This is by far the best dry shampoo I’ve used thus far. The problem I find with a lot of other dry shampoos is the residue it leaves behind. This particular one is great because it has the hint of color that blends well with my hair. On top of that, it smells like chocolate. Of all these products I’ve tested, this one gets the first place prize!
5- Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing- This did not work out for me at all. I purchased this travel size can to take with me on vacation or weekends away. For me, I might as well have sprayed pine scented white powder into my hair. This just did not work out for me at all.
6- Bonus Item: L’Oréal Paris Boost It High Lift Creation Spray– Although this isn’t a dry shampoo, I have been using this a lot lately in my hair routine. (I have already repurchased this!) It really does add volume and body to my hair, especially when sprayed at the roots. The only downside it has a strong scent- its not an unpleasant scent, its just strong. I highly recommend this and thought it was worth mentioning.
I’d love to know what products have really been taking your hair routine up a notch. Let me know in the comments!
