With Thanksgiving right around the corner (it feels early this year, right?) now is the perfect time to plan your table centerpiece. You’re probably thinking: “Really? On top of hosting or making a dish to share, I have to make a crafty centerpiece too??” Don’t worry!
This is literally the easiest most budget friendly craft. It’s 100% reusable for any holiday or special occasion.
I actually made this centerpiece over a year ago when I was planning my sister’s bridal shower. I couldn’t find what I was looking for in Homegoods or Target, so I decided to make them myself. Believe it or not, all the supplies you need can be found at Walmart! The other cool thing about this project is you can create multiples of them in a batch. This is the perfect type of centerpiece that can be given away as a gift as well. You’ll need 6″ burlap ribbon, (similar here or here) hot glue, scissors and a 9″ clear vase.
First, measure how much of the burlap ribbon you need by wrapping it around the circumference of the vase. I cut enough so that it overlapped about a 1/4 inch.
Once the ribbon is cut to length, be sure to secure it to the vase by hot gluing the first end to the vase.
Next, carefully hot glue the ribbon to the bottom and top edges to the ribbon roughly 3 inches at a time. I recommend applying the hot glue, set the gun aside, and slowly press the ribbon to the vase until you reach the other end.
Before gluing the other end of the ribbon, I made a tiny “hem” on the other end. This is so the frayed edges wouldn’t show. All you need to do this is fold over the edge press the hot glue to the fabric. Be careful, this might burn if you press the fabric too quickly.
Once the “hem” is finished, line up the edges of the ribbon and hot glue the burlap lace on top of the other edge. Add seasonal flowers, either faux or fresh, and voila!! (The advantage of the burlap is you can use faux florals and you won’t be able to see the stems in the vase.)
This entire project cost about $40 for a completed set of 4 vases including the flowers. (I already owned a hot glue gun and hot glue.) Super easy, right??
PS: Can you believe it’s been almost 2 years since my last DIY post?
