Watch: Our Kitchen Cabinets!!!

Jan 7, 2019AT HOME

This post has been a loooong time coming. We started filming this in September, right about when our kitchen cabinets arrived. Today, I’m beyond excited to share with you our kitchen cabinets!!

We ordered the cabinets online from The RTA Store. Our design coordinator’s name was Chrissy and she was so wonderful and so patient with us. I’m not exaggerating, she must have emailed Brandon over 50 renderings before we put the items in our cart and hit submit.

The reason we went with The RTA Store as opposed to a local kitchen cabinet designer or a big box store was cost. We met with 4 different local cabinet experts and the quotes ranged from $10,000-$15,000 for cabinets. We knew the cabinets cost a lot, but we weren’t prepared to spend that much. So in pure Brandon fashion, he researched and researched until he found the The RTA Store.

RTA stands for “Ready To Assemble.” Instead of the cabinets coming fully assembled, they arrived in flat packed boxes. Each cabinet (as you will see in the video) was packed with the sides, drawers and doors stacked. Each edge has brackets that you line up, glue the edges and gently hammer together with a rubber mallet.

To assemble the cabinets, it took us about 3 weeks or so on nights and weekends. It’s a lot more work, but it was worth the $5000+ savings to us!

Lots of people have been asking if the kitchen is fully functioning yet, and the answer is no. We still do not have the stove or dishwasher installed yet. The counters and kitchen sink are in, but we still have a few more details to finish up. We are so close!

We hope you enjoy our silly little cabinet videos! Part 1 is above, Part 2 is below!!
