Its no secret that I enjoy shopping at thrift shops and consignment stores. I get a huge kick out of finding a great deal on a cute piece of clothing or accessory. Don’t get me wrong, I love a brand new J. Crew sweater as much as the next gal, but when I find something in great condition and I can spend nearly 75% less on at a thrift shop, you can’t really argue with that. So when Brandon and I stumbled upon this amazing thrift shop called Housing Works during our recent trip to New York City, I just had to step inside. We really didn’t have as much time as we wanted to shop since it was literally as we were about to catch our train to leave the city, but fortunately I was able to find a new pair of white pants-my first pair of white pants actually! They are a skinny fit by DKNY, and they are in pristine condition- no stains or rips. I snatched them up for $15!
In a place like New york City where at times I don’t feel posh enough or rich enough to shop at any of the high-end stores downtown, it felt really amazing to walk away with a great deal that looks fabulous and didn’t cost the sting of retail. Not only did I get a fabulous pair of pants, but I also supported a great cause! When you shop at the Housing Works, 100% of the proceeds go to fight to end AIDS and homelessness. Next time you are in the city, you should definitely check out one of their many locations!
