Turkey Burgers With Creamy Romaine Slaw

Apr 12, 2013Archives, AT HOME

If you like turkey burgers, then this is your new favorite recipe.  It is so good, I am literally eating one as I write this.  I’m not kidding.  This recipe comes from the Real Simple Easy, Delicious Home Cooking cookbook.  This is my second post in attempting to cook every recipe from this book.  Below are the ingredients you will need to make this scrumptious burger: about 2 pounds of ground turkey, thyme leaves, 2 scallions, and a tablespoon of dijon mustard.

Combine the ground turkey, thyme, chopped scallions.  (I actually didn’t end up using mustard in mine because the date on the bottle said it was expired!)  Instead of adding mustard, I added some sage. (I know, totally different spice, but equally as good). When the meat ingredients are combined, I form them into appropriate sized burger patties and cook on for 6-8 minutes per side according to what the cookbook recommended. While they were cooking, I prepared the slaw: 2 tablespoons of mayo or miracle whip, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, dash of salt and mixed in a bowl.  Then chop up about 2 or 3 romaine lettuce leaves, and grate a small carrot or about 4-5 baby carrots.  Add the chopped veggies to the may/vinegar combo and mix all together.  By the way, this slaw is the best part.

This slaw will completely change your perspective on burgers- heck, it will change your life.  When the turkey burgers are completely cooked through, remove them from the pan and place on a bun with the slaw.

I recommend you enjoy this burger with chips, a pickle and your favorite brew. Yuuuuum.
