I’m not usually one who goes all out with the holiday clothing. I prefer to wear pops of Christmas spirit in my accessories instead. For example, like on my nails, a scarf, jewelry or a clutch. So when I found this plaid skirt at the end of the season last year, I surprised myself when I purchased it. It’s been sitting in my closet for a year now waiting for me to wear it. This skirt is not the most structured pencil skirt, in fact the material is quite stretchy. But for an end of the season deal, for a piece that is worn once year, I can’t really complain.
This plaid pencil skirt in particular is another thrift store find. However, plaid skirts are still trending this season, so finding one last minute shouldn’t be difficult. Lots of stores online are having sales this time of the month, so you can probably find a good deal. I chose all black pieces to coordinate with the skirt so it would be the focal point of the outfit. The plaid pattern pairs perfectly (say that 5x fast) with this vintage velvet clutch I picked up at a flea market.
Every year I look forward to going to church on Christmas Eve. There is something about getting dressed up, going to church and singing songs about Christ’s birth that make me feel warm inside. This is exactly the kind of skirt I would wear to a Christmas Eve service.
I searched the web for some similar skirts, both in color and style. Here are a few options from some online retail shops: J. Jill, Talbots, ShopBop, iuly.com, and Asos.
