Its hard to believe another week has passed by. I have a hard time keeping track of what month we are in let alone what day of the week it is! The good thing is, Brandon and I have made some really amazing progress at the house over the past few days. We began this week landing at the airport after a weekend I can only describe as blissful. One of my best girlfriends (coincidentally also named Maggie) moved to Chicago this summer after getting a promotion at her job. This year for my birthday, Brandon surprised me with plane tickets to visit her and concert tickets to see Jason Mraz at the Chicago Theater! Even though we have been stressed out with all the work left to do at the house, it was really worth it to take two days away and recharge with our friend. We had the best time, and saw as much as we possibly could see in the time we had in the Windy City.

After we got back “home” we hit the ground running and went straight back to work at the house. Last week we made a huge accomplishment when Brandon and the guys had the new floor joists installed, and this week we finished installing the new subfloor! Before installation, we had to cut out the old floor joists. Brandon and his buddy Dan together cut each of the joists out, and the next day Brandon and I took them out of the house. We had to take them out through the upstairs window (Brandon on the inside, me on the outside) because they are so long! We are saving them for something special. The following days were spent measuring, cutting and installing the new subfloor and finally we can walk around up there again! What makes this part of the house renovation such a major achievement is that when we first began this project and we told people we wanted to lower the floor in the back, they looked at us like we were crazy or told us it could never be done. After a lot of determination and hard work, the new floor is installed and the upstairs is all the same level. Next we can start framing in the walls!!
